On April 9, Dr. Cynthia Costa hosted a virtual essential oils workshop over zoom with Dr. Sandra Hanna, D.C. Both chiropractors use functional medicine in their homes and clinics. They explored a question that’s on all of our minds right now:

How can we boost immunity and calm anxious feelings? 

The answer? Lifestyle and nature’s medicine.

What we do with our body and what we put in our body can completely transform our immunity and well-being. Simply eating all the colors of the rainbow helps our gut microbiome, which boosts immunity. Exercise, sleep, and meditation also play a key role in keeping us healthy right now.

How can we be proactive rather than reactive?

In the workshop, Dr. Hanna shared a great analogy: “Picture this new virus that we’re dealing with as an uphill. Our bodies are our engines, and the essential oils, the supplements, our functional medicine doctor, and the healthy diet that we give our bodies are the FUEL. Now, some fuels are better than others. The best fuel will help our bodies to get up the hill and be more proactive versus reactive.
